West Hoathly Parish Council seeks to appoint an Assistant Clerk to support the work of the Council.
The appointment is initially for 9 hours per week and the salary will be £12.50 to £13.50 an hour dependent on experience. The successful candidate will be expected to take over as Clerk and Proper Officer (starting salary range £14.50 - £15.40 an hour) on the retirement of the current clerk when the weekly hours will increase to approximately 16 hours a week with attendance at evening meetings.
The Assistant Clerk will assist the Parish Clerk in carrying out their duties and help with organising all meetings of the Council, publishing agendas and minutes, dealing with correspondence, dealing with contractors, liaising with other parish councils, the district and county councils as well as outside organisations and oversee parish council projects.
The successful candidate will have good administrative, organisational and computer skills. Training will be provided where appropriate and the Parish Council will support the successful candidate in achieving the recognised CiLCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) qualification. The Assistant Clerk will work in the Parish Office.
Parish Council and committee meetings usually take place on Monday evenings and attendance is a requirement of the position.
